Tech Line Leader at AKKA Research
Your role in AKKA
I am Tech Line Leader at AKKA Research. Our role is to boost AKKA’s know-how in cutting edge technologies so that we continually stay tuned with the state of the art in our sector and develop key competencies in anticipation of customer needs. We then integrate these advanced technologies into the customer’s environment via agile demonstrators.
I am leading the Digital Tech Line in Germany and develop our footprint in technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Industry 4.0 or IoT. Concretely, my job consists in identifying which R&D subjects match best AKKA’s business targets and establish partnerships with Universities or Research institutes with whom we build up sustainable cooperation also for long-term projects on innovation subjects. This is a very stimulating environment where good ideas and visions must match the market reality.
I originally come from the aerospace sector where I spent about fifteen years. I have been involved in the development of lovely birds like the Dassault F7X, Airbus A380 and A350. During this period I gathered deep experience in mechanical and electrical systems and grown from designer to aircraft section leader. At AKKA, I had the opportunity to switch this career path to a quite more digital environment as department leader for IT service in north Germany, before joining AKKA Research in May 2020.
Switching from an engineering environment to a digital R&D environment isn’t so obvious and requires a significant personal investment in order to successfully do this. I’m glad to have achieved such conversion and enjoy it every day.
How do your friends describe you and your spare time?
I think I’m an accessible person, who likes humor and does things in a structured way same time. Tough deadlines can be met easier with smiling. Apart from the work, I spend a lot of time with my family (my wife and I have two boys) and love playing guitar.
